In 2023, Microsoft was positioned as leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Analytics and Business Intelligence Platforms. And this for the sixteenth consecutive year.
Microsoft’s Power BI is the absolute leader on both axes, so for its “completeness of vision” as well as for its “ability to execute”.
Microsoft actively listens to its user communities and builds in the extra funtonalities the market is looking for into its Power BI tool.
Recent innovations include:
1. Datamarts in Power BI: This new, report builder empowering, self-service capability within Power BI Premium allows users to perform relational database analytics and gain actionable insights from their data.
2. Data Model Editing in the Power BI Service: Users can now navigate to a dataset and edit it using a model view interface similar to Power BI Desktop. This collaborative feature enables simultaneous work on the same data model.
3. Optimize Ribbon in Power BI Desktop: The new ribbon includes options to pause and refresh visual queries, enhancing report-building efficiency.
4. Contextual On-Object Controls for Power BI Visuals: Report builders can select elements in charts and edit their format or properties directly, resulting in pixel-perfect reports.
5. Quick Measures Suggestions with Natural Language: By leveraging the Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service, report builders can create Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) measures using natural language, streamlining the process.
Microsoft's commitment to empowering every individual, team, and organization to extract more value from their data remains unwavering. As a result, Power BI continues to lead the way in the analytics and business intelligence landscape.
And remember, data-driven insights are most impactful when they reach the hands of those who can use them to inform actions and decisions.
